Pure The Second Covenant Novel Jennifer L Armentrout Books
This was a great second installment in the Covenant series and I am really excited to see where this series takes me in future books. It is fast-paced and full of excitement. I feel like I could fly through these books, but I am trying to pace myself so that I won’t suffer from an extreme book hangover. The writing was great…pretty much on par with the rest of what Armentrout writes. Her books always read really fast and keep readers engaged until the very end. I think that Armentrout really excelled at writing the action scenes in this book. I also really enjoyed the way that the dialogue was written…it was very natural. I feel like the dialogue has a big part in developing the relationships between characters. I loved to see the friendship between Alex and Caleb…their ramblings seemed genuine and something that teenagers would say.
I thought that the plot defiantly became more intricate in this book. However, I did find some of the events predictable…especially the end. There was one twist thrown in there that did blow me away (and broke my heart). This book really spent a lot of time building mystery around the counsel and solidifying character relationships. I am looking forward to picking up Deity, the third book in this series to see which direction the plot will develop.
The relationships in this book defiantly became deeper. The relationship between Alex and Aiden became more angsty and complicated. The relationship between Alex and Seth surprisingly deepened in a way I never expected. I have to say, I really like the dynamic between Alex and Seth and I found myself rooting for this coupling more than the one with Aiden. I thought the banter between these two was very funny and I loved that Seth was protective and seemed to care for Alex.
I feel like a big turn off for some readers will be the love triangle, which became very apparent in this book and I feel will continue into the next. I have a feeling of who Alex ends up with (as I am sure a lot of readers do) so I am interested to see how relationship dynamics shift in the next book. The romance is a big part of the plot, so I don’t think that readers who hate love triangles would like this book.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to read the next. Anyone who has read and liked Armentrout’s other books will enjoy this series as well. However, I would suggest buying the whole series up front because you are going to want to devour all the books, one right after the other.

Pure The Second Covenant Novel Jennifer L Armentrout Books Reviews
This book was just as much of a page-turner as the first one. It only took 1,5 days to get through it, although I couldn't resist reading trough the night.
We could see a lot more of Seth and a lot less of Aiden. I'm still not sure how I feel about it, I guess I'm just as stuck between them as Alex. Both guys would be perfect for a first lead, Aiden because of the whole forbidden love thing and Seth because of his smug personality and egoism. And of course the fate thing. Anyways, it's a nice change to see these two leading characters in one book, because you don't really know who she will end up with, unlike in other books where you know the minute they lay their eyes on each other that they will be together at some point. It's really messy, but in a nice way.
I'm really interested in Marcus and Lucian. Why are they suddenly on her side, protecting her? Marcus seems like he truly cares about her, but I'm not sure about Lucian.
The story is getting more and more interesting as well, and mysterious characters keep showing up and leaving before we get to know what's the deal with them. The system is slowly crushing down, huge holes are appearing on the walls of it, but the Leaders somehow keep missing it.
I guess I'm gonna start the 3rd book right away )
The Good
I immediately jumped into this one after reading Half-Blood. The way the other ends, made me want to pick this one up as soon as possible. Then, when I had Pure in my hands, I read it in one sitting. I feel like this one is stronger than Half-Blood.
I loved getting to see the characters develop more and even some growth happening. I really enjoyed getting more information on characters that were hardly even in the first one. I feel like the way information is given in this series, bit by bit with Alex learning her way back around, that it makes it seem even more like I'm a part of it. I'm learning even more rules, information, and people as we go, and it's a lot of fun.
There are some crazy things going down here. A lot has happened to Alex and she just keeps getting hit. There are a ton of turns and you couldn't possibly guess everything that happens. I love Alex as the heroine. She definitely deserves the title. She's definitely flawed, but that just makes her more human and relatable. I am invested in these characters and want to see everyone succeed. As we know, Armentrout does not have a problem taking characters away from us and that just makes the conflict rev up more.
The Romance
I got to get to know Seth a lot more in this one, and I enjoyed seeing different aspects of his character. However, I think his train of thought is very one-tracked. Not for what you would think either. I continue to love Aiden. I am really loving everything that I learn about his character and I really hope that they somehow get through the forbidden aspect of a relationship to make that work.
Conclusion
Pure has a lot of action. It has character growth and some interesting insights into the characters as more information about them is shared. I love watching Alex as a heroine even if she is an act first and think later type of character. I thoroughly enjoy the humor that Armentrout has in her writing. The ending makes you want to read the next one immediately. Recommended.
